So BF#2 and I went to the midnight premier of HBP last night. We got there two hours early and the line was already out of the theater door. Now, I don't know why I find this so strange, but I was still kind of surprised. I know it's Harry Potter and some fanfare is to be expected. But, has the fever kind of passed for anyone else? I'll be the first to admit that I love Harry Potter more than is socially acceptable. I've read those book way too many times, yo. And beyond that I read, and wrote, a substantial amount of fanfiction. Maybe I just don't have enough cosplay in my preferred fandom cocktail, but dressing up? Really? I don't mean a scarf or a plaid skirt or a tie or something else that's just fun and in the spirit of the night. I own a Slytherin track jacket and a hoodie, and I wear them proudly in public. But last night I saw high school boys arrive in full Gryffindor quidditch gear. Robes, helmets, goggles, elbow pads, gloves, boots, and brooms. Tiny, firebolt replica brooms. One guy was dressed as a dementor. He had a black flowing shroud and wraps on his hands. Wtf. It might just me but... I feel as though the mania has passed a bit. The seventh book has been out for a while. We all know what happens. Maybe it's because I grew up with it, and I did the midnight book buy every year and obsessed so hard for so long, that at this point its just kind of done. Maybe I have a dirty, cheating fandom heart. Either way, I was sort of... over it. W/e. Onto the SPOILERS WHICH ARE UNDER THE CUT.

Re: Patd

This is the first time I've ever lost something that meant this much to me. Yeah, whatever, they were just a band, but they were also just something I loved. And I don't give a damn who you are, when you lose something you love, you're entitled to hurt for a while. They were a marker in time for me. My entire junior paper was written solely to 'Fever' on repeat for about a month straight. My entire freshman year of college was 'Pretty. Odd.' and I met some of the best people I've ever met because of that music and because it made me feel the way it did, shaped my mood and attitude and expanded my mind to let a whole host of new ideas in. My room is plastered with Ryan Ross's lyrics. Not to mention my posters and t-shirts.

I don't feel like something is gone or as though something's been taken. I don't feel like I've been wronged or that I'm owed something. I feel more as though its the end of an era and that all the moments in time I've tied to that music and those people are tainted now because there's an end date to everything.

I know entropy happens and blah blah blah. But never say it happens quietly. This is the riot. Now is the time to scream and be in pain about it. I will have my due time and be suitably hurt and weepy about it, there's no stopping that. I'm probably gonna go cry in a corner like a big baby, I'll be embarrassed later, I don't have the energy for it now.

So... first off: "Things of Kings" is just such a good phrase that I'm literally saddened (you know, even more) that the show is canceled because I will not get to use it again. *pouts* But, we carry on. The following contains RAMPANT SPOILERS for Kings 1x08. You've been warned all officially.
