<dw:music>Teeth- Lady Gaga</dw:music>

    <dw:reply-count>0</dw:reply-count>

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. SO: Gaga last night was easily as amazing as I expected it to be. That's one hell of a show. Also, she's got a damn fine voice. I find it really refreshing and original to have gone and seen someone who didn't vocally show off on any of their studio tracks and as a result completely freaking shines on stage. The acoustic 'Poker Face' was promised by many to blow my mind and, DAMN it did that and more. Also, her male backup dancers... woah. Like WOAH were they beautiful. I have never seen a boy move his hips like that, and I say that having seen Queer as Folk in its entirety. I IRL swooned.

Moving on: I am admitted procrastinating in writing these papers. *hides from the scary papers*

Mainlining Merlin currently. It's pretty gay. I'm loving that aspect of it. However, the weird, creepy, bad fuckery of classic King Arthur cannon is both irritating and disorienting. I would enjoy the show way more if I could put aside my research paper from last semester, but it's fucking stuck in my head and its not going anywhere.

Phone charger really far away with my phone really dead? No, not my ideal situation for continuing communications. Oddly.

Bought a poster off Clandestine and even though I KNOW I changed the shipping info so it'll go home and not to my school mailbox... I cannot help checking for it every day. Honestly. I'm such a loser. In my <s>totally obviously and unrealistic fangirl</s> secret heart I have a dream where it magically shows up on my birthday at school for me. *facepalm*

BRB, listening to The Fame Monster forever...

comments

Spent all the long weekend working. Well, not all, but a lot of. So sleepy. But hey, made lots of money.

...Which I promptly spent almost half of on exclusive Fall Out Boy Merch. Seriously... *headdesk* WHY DO I LOVE THEM SO MUCH? But I didn't get the Infinity package. I am proud of having not done that. Especially when shipping would have put it up to like... 8o bucks instead of 70. Never the less, I am fucking pumped about their Greatest Hits CD. I'm not really concerned about the 'break'. They deserve some damn down time.

Finished my Film paper two days early. Haven't even started the Shakespeare one yet. Ugh, that'll need to get done tonight.

Brb, gonna go listen to 'Alpha Dog' forever. <33333

comments

Roomies moved in! First day of classes! Nightmare Before Christmas!

As for the first, our room rocks the motherfucking Casbah. Every place there can be a poster, there is. The furniture has been attacked, not just the walls.

Geographic Perspectives on Globilization = VERY INTERESTING. My classmates? Very pretentious. Well, to be fair, only two of them. Shakespeare Class is sort of the reduced, watered down version so far. Disappointing, but I'm looking forward to it getting better. Film! FILM YOU GUYS. Our first movie is Stagecoach!!! 1939! John Wayne! Exiled prostitutes! Baby's born in the middle of an Indian/Cowboy scrimmage! Escaped prisoners who are literally White Hats! Glorious.

Nightmare themed photoshoot.
So, I've known him for almost 8 years and he was in a horrible car accident today. But he's okay and that's what matters. But I have to keep reminding myself of that and not think over and over again 'TheCarFlippedTheCarFlippedTheCARFUCKINGFLIPPED' or else I'll go nuts. I wish I was there to see for myself that he's ok. Because he's my bro and it's not like, an option for him to be hurt. I can't even imagine what is was like for his gf, who saw the whole thing but was in a different car. I need to call her. God. I need to sleep off the worst of the shock, I know. But my eyes are just wide open. I'm gonna try anyway.

Thanks to everyone who offered love/support and nice thoughts/things. <dw:music>Where We Went Wrong- The Hush Sound</dw:music>

    <dw:reply-count>0</dw:reply-count>

*big breathe*
AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnndd... I'm back. To school, I mean. All the shit I intended to move in is moved in, and I merely work and eat and sleep and hopefully write, until the much beloved roomies arrive and school starts. (Uh, when clearly all those things will still occur, just not like, alone.) Move-in was hot. Ugh, and muggy. I think we've previous discussed my innate hatred for air that feels like it's touching you. At any rate, It was hot and I moved the last box in and tried to build my fan. Mostly, I succeeded in building said fan. I say 'mostly' because it totally works and is currently working it's cooling magic on my desk while aimed at my bed. However, it doesn't have a front grill. Ok, yeah that sounds maybe a little dangerous but the fan blades aren't metal or anything, and I know not to touch then while they're whirling. So as long as it works, I'm okay with it. Hopefully one of the roomies will procure a screwdriver and then the fan can be complete!

Went out to dinner with the parents before they left me for good. I figured, 'Yay, free meal!' and then Dave was all 'I want to go to Fridays.'

...

*big sigh* Ok, I hate TGIFridays. That is, very seriously, not real food. That is a whole menu of HOT MESS seasoned way out it's butt and served with a picture of (stupid fucking) Guy Fieri like that makes it actually edible. Which... what? Anyway, Mom says no to Bertucci's and we're not dressed for Papa Razzi and Dave vetos Uno. Fine. Fridays it is. However, the outrageous amount of complaining that that pair did over their tasteless, lukewarm food was like... hilarious. YOU WENT TO FRIDAYS. I'M SORRY, WHAT WERE YOU EXPECTING, EXACTLY? I, being the only one with tragically low standards, was the only one who did not complain. Although, that said, I rarely complain about the food I'm eating while I'm eating it, possibly because my parents choose to do so ad nauseum.

Regardless, there was free food, which I ate. BUT, after the free food and the hugs goodbye, and the dropping off: THERE WAS MUCH WATCHMEN. Hopped over to Towers to join a crew who was watching the Director's Cut. Okay, yes, long, but also awesome sauce. Sauce'd with awesome. Also, if you ever get the chance to do so, watch that shit with someone who knows comic books/graphic novels. I had a lot of 'Oh, this symbolism is totally legit and awesome I wonder if it's intentional' moments while watching it in theaters, and having someone who was really familiar with the storyline and of it's creator's intent present was just sweet. Much discussion of Ozymandias! My heart!

Then left my phone there. *facepalm* It's okay though. My VP's got my back and already went and snagged it for me and is gonna bring it to meals. Problem? Working through most meals today. We'll see what we can do.

I had a dream last night where SJ and I moved furniture in the room around. Seriously, that's all the dream was about. Then some guys knocked on our door and wanted to come in and we were like 'we don't know you... so no.' And then there was like... a forth bed we used as a couch. But it was normal. Idek, you guys, my brain has a weirdness.

Gonna probs listen to music to wake me up, now.

comments

<dw:music>'New Persepctive'- Panic! At the Disco</dw:music>
    <dw:security>public</dw:security>
    <dw:reply-count>0</dw:reply-count>

As may have been previously stated, I live in the prettiest place on earth. You can not convince me otherwise. However, it is deeply unfortunate that through the months of July and August, every tourist to ever exist realizes this as well and invades. I mean, I can't exactly be mad about how the flood of activity downtown means that working uptown is blissfully easy. I reserve the right to be furious that it turns the five minute drive home into a twenty minute one, though.

So, Laura's basically the best and got me 'New Persepctive' early. I think it's been on repeat since last night. Lol, by the time we see each other next we'll have the harmonies right.

Fucking room reservation at school thinks it's funny. To be sure, it is not. Also, feel free to respond to my e-mail STAT, Advisers.

SJ getting Transformers makes me want my own. Yes, I'm predictable and uncool because Optimus Prime is my favorite. Deal with it. I mean, let's not lie, I favor decepticons pretty heavily, but Opty's got my heart for realz.

No work tomorrow. Can I get a HELL YES. I'm gonna hit the fucking beach so hard it's gonna say 'Ow'. That's not an exaggeration. My goal is to be at least four shades tanner by the end of the day.

When did my hair get so long? To trim or not to trim? Will ponder.

Off to stalk to interwebz and write a lot.
Leaving NY today. As one may guess I did call out of work. Just made more sense. Instead, today we get to make the long treck back. There were a lot of pictures taken and a lot of jokes made and a lot of good times had, so I'm really glad I came and that I stayed and that it worked out so well. All things considered, it didn't really have to.

Watched 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' last night. And even though it's like the sixth time I've seen that movie in seven days, I still laugh out loud (obnoxiously) at the dinner scene where they talk about her shitty movie. "Absolutely awful film. Terrible premise. What if your mobile phone... killed you. That's ridiculous, how can a mobile phone have an agenda?".... "It's a metaphor! For... addiction to technology." "It's a metaphor for a crap film." I'm chuckling just writing about it. Does that guy remind anyone else of Tim Minchin? Lol, anyway, that was fun.

Began the quest to sort through bandom lyrics to apply to famous literature. Unsurprisingly it is at times both ridiculously easy and frustratingly difficult.

Waiting on pins and needles for the 28th. New Perspective. In other news, Idk if I can read interviews with Ryro anymore cuz the last one left me... uh, seething with anger. I'm trying to still love him. So hard. <dw:music>Wine Red- The Hush Sound</dw:music>
    <dw:security>public</dw:security>
    <dw:reply-count>0</dw:reply-count>

Spent the majority of today looking for the park Woodstock was held in, in Woodstock, NY. Found out afterwords that the famous music festival was not held in the town of Woodstock, but in the town of Bethel. That would have perhaps been a good thing to look up beforehand. No?

Broke mah sunglasses, which resulted in a little bit of sad.

BUT, all was well. Why was all well? THERE WAS A SIGN. I say from on high, the roomies plus Richard and Ellen say that it was just a sign on the side of the road. Whatever. Point is, it said 'Sophia's Bar and Grill' and I was like "WHAT?" and they confirmed that I did not hallucinate. So, after much prodding on my part, we went to this Bar and Grill and it was MUCHLY AWESOME. The food was scrumptious, cheap, and you could add a wide variety of toppings to your burger if you so desired. Sauteed onions, bacon, chili, bacon (it was on there twice), grilled ham (??), and four kinds of cheese (American, cheddar, provolone, and... uh, Gorgonzola). And, most importantly, there was cheesecake for dessert. Good cheesecake. When I have a picture of this divine place, I will share.

Then we drove straight home (minus a three second detour while we idly considered a slowly dwindling craft fair) and I screamed my heart out to whatever happened to be playing on the stereo. Lost my voice a lil' bit. When we made it home we jumped in the pool. I don't think I've ever gotten so much water in my nose. Also new, Laura used me as a propeller for about five minutes. In the water. It's probably more amusing if you picture it in your head rather than me describing it.

I'm on my second cup of tea... and I'm still in the mood. So hot and yummy. Delicious.

I've announced to Laura my intention to create an entire collection of classic literature icons with bandom text, because I am a freak. A freaky freak with freaky thoughts.

To lie to my boss about car troubles or not? Will ponder.

comments

We have reached New York. Well, okay, we reached NY last night. Then we stayed up until 2, yes, in the morning. Watching the Buffy musical for old times sake was fun, and nachos at 1 am was pretty awesome. Painted my nails ridiculously because I finally can and because she had neon green and orange begging to be combined.

Up too early. There should possibly have been more sleep involved. But Richard offered me gummy cherries, so it was alright. They were very sweet.

Gonna relax until I can shower.

comments

Currently in the bury of shrews with my roooooommmmiiiiieee. <3 So, lol, we went to the mall and Pacsun strangled my willpower. I don't know why I thought I would go into the mall and not buy anything, but I didn't have any intention of buying something when I walked in, so for some reason I thought I was safe. Not true. But in all fairness it is not my fault. They were like 'BUY ANY PLAID SHIRT AND GET A FREE TANK' and I was like 'OKAY!' Like I said, not my fault. The selections were pure, delicious Cobra, no lie. It was amazing. I am totally wearing my purchase from today to the concert.

Waiting for Richard to get out of work so that we can begin the journey to NY. Listening to MCR and being joyful about that. Little sleepy. May totally pass out on the drive out. Have not yet informed the pair I'm traveling with that I spend the majority of most car rides asleep.

In other news, I shamelessly re-wrote the lyrics to 'Valerie' so that I could serenade my friend Deanna. I would have just sung it to her with minimal change but considering she has no criminal tendencies and would thus not go to jail or put her house up for sale, it was just inaccurate. Am practicing.
Ahaha, in my dream last night I was shopping and saw this one dress, that I was so excited about that I woke myself up. I do not remember what the dress looked like. Typical.

Parents away for the weekend. Again. House to myself. I think this calls for Queer as Folk watched in the living room at full volume.

Trying out Crest Whitestrips. Very odd sensation but I've done weirder things for self improvement. I'm sorta paranoid that my tongue will end up bleached as well. That'd be strange. Tonight will probably be full of home-beauty/spa treatment regimes. I'm just in the mood. In other news, I'm totally trying to make granola tonight for the first time on my own! I am convinced this will rock.

Live Free or Die Hard is probably one of my favorite movies just for pure watch-ability. I don't get tired of it. I mean, granted that I don't know how much I'd like to watch it 100 times in a row. But all summer it's been on, if not ever day then every other day, and I've watched it every chance I've gotten. Maybe its just that I'm head over heels for Bruce Willis and Justin Long. "You just blew up a helicopter with a car." "...Was outta bullets." Damn I love those boys together.

comments

And by that, you mean you want my e-mail and shit, right?' And their website was like 'Nope. Here's the whole album. Free.' And I was like 'Huh. That makes me like you be default.' And then the CD was good. So, yeah, check out Empires. Legit. I'm a big fan of 'Valmont' and 'Keep the Mood'.

In other news, HOT MESS, why are you not out yet?
So BF#2 and I went to the midnight premier of HBP last night. We got there two hours early and the line was already out of the theater door. Now, I don't know why I find this so strange, but I was still kind of surprised. I know it's Harry Potter and some fanfare is to be expected. But, has the fever kind of passed for anyone else? I'll be the first to admit that I love Harry Potter more than is socially acceptable. I've read those book way too many times, yo. And beyond that I read, and wrote, a substantial amount of fanfiction. Maybe I just don't have enough cosplay in my preferred fandom cocktail, but dressing up? Really? I don't mean a scarf or a plaid skirt or a tie or something else that's just fun and in the spirit of the night. I own a Slytherin track jacket and a hoodie, and I wear them proudly in public. But last night I saw high school boys arrive in full Gryffindor quidditch gear. Robes, helmets, goggles, elbow pads, gloves, boots, and brooms. Tiny, firebolt replica brooms. One guy was dressed as a dementor. He had a black flowing shroud and wraps on his hands. Wtf. It might just me but... I feel as though the mania has passed a bit. The seventh book has been out for a while. We all know what happens. Maybe it's because I grew up with it, and I did the midnight book buy every year and obsessed so hard for so long, that at this point its just kind of done. Maybe I have a dirty, cheating fandom heart. Either way, I was sort of... over it. W/e. Onto the SPOILERS WHICH ARE UNDER THE CUT.

comments

Fuck, I'm tired. I had the weirdest night of sleep. I had this crazy multilayered dream where I kept thinking I was woken up and realizing I was still dreaming, which never fails to flip me the fuck out. And so I forcibly work myself up and... it was 7:30. Unamused. Drifted back to sleep into the same sort of dream and hated it so I woke myself up again. 8:30.

Whatever. And then I realized I was working at 11:30, not 10, which clashed pretty thoroughly with with Mom's doctor's appointment. So I was a little late to work. No one was mad at me though, which was a plus. The only thing I really have to say about work is that the manager who shall go unnamed will totally get cut if he continues to be that much of an ass.

Half Blood Prince tonight! I am very excited about it. I would only be more excited if I wasn't so tired.

BF#1 one has flown off to D.C. for her internship. Le sigh. She will be missed for the three weeks she is gone.

*dances and sing-songs* Laura's party next weekend! Laura's party next weekend! Awesome. Gonna hitch a ride there with the lovely and talented Miss SJ. She needs an online journal of some sort. Vote, Laura?
Purely so that it is in an easily accessible and relatively permanent place while I am at school:

Mommma Amy's Granola Recipe.

(Which is basically Alton Brown's granola recipe, but in place of some other useless nut, we have put pecans. We both like pecans more than is strictly reasonable. This is a fact.)

So,

Oven at 250 degrees beforehand!

3 cups oatmeal
1/4 cup brown sugar
Yay cinnamon! (There is no real measurement here. Just until you are joyful.)
Nutmeg if you're feeling sassy
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup slivered almonds
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup oil
Vanilla to your heart's desire
1 cup raisins

Dry ingredients, then wet ones. Stir that shit up. Put it on the baking sheet and evenly distribute it. Put it in the oven for 1 hour 15 minutes, stirring every twenty. (Note: Pretty sure the stirring is totally useless but Momma does it and it is entirely possible she stirs extra deliciousness in. Will experiment without stirring.) After the baking has commenced, stir in raisins and contain in Tupperware.

Works most joyfully with bananas and blueberries, and is smashing in blueberry yogurt. Mmm, Stonyfield organic bliss...

Anyone who might also be reading this and wondering: Yes, this goes wonderfully with milk. I use it for my morning sugar-coated-cereal-substitute frequently. I'm lactose intolerant, however, so I can't abide the milky liquid stomach pyrotechnics.

That is all.
That... may have been the best day at work I've had thus far. That said, people were weird today. Not the people I work with, as in my coworkers. No, the customers all picked today to go wacky. Working back-cash is probably the easiest gig in the store (cuz, hey, all you do is take people's money and give the change the computer tells you to) but sometimes... I just don't know what to do.

Ex. 1- Guy pulls up to the window... like five feet away. He looks a little bemused, and although there is no one behind him, he doesn't back up and drive up again. He gets out of the car and hands me his money. I'm laughing at the point because 'LolWut?' and then the guy starts laughing as well. Fine. I give him his change... and uh, he just stands there. Laughing and looking at me. For a while. And I kind of bounce on my toes a bit and glance pointedly at the next window but he just smiles and stares at me. And so I say 'You can drive up, they um, have your food.' And he looks so surprised. Eyes wide, eyebrows up and everything. And then he says 'Oh... ok, yes, I'll do that.' And then, well, does. Strange.

Ex. 2- Two guys pull up in a minivan. The driver looks as me and says 'Hey!' And since I'm not socially retarded and I am always pleasant with customers I say 'Hi there.' with a smile. And he says 'There's that ChainRestarauntName smile! Is it real? No, it's SO FAKE!' I'm a little taken aback but I do laugh and I say 'Well, not really.' and he was like 'No, it's totally fake.' (All this while waving his 20 in the air as he talks with his hands. Don't hand me your currency or anything. It's not totally my job.) So I shrug and say that it's a beautiful day and I get to spend it in a window, which is something no one else working really gets to do and that making change is the sweetest gig in the store. I do this while kind of grabbing for his money because there's a line assembling itself behind him and COME ON. Then the guy laughs and says 'Well that's true. You're employed which is rare, and something to smile about. You're young, you're very pretty, it's a beautiful day...' So I manage to snatch the 20 from him and awkwardly thank him while making his change and mumbling that also, I go back to school in the fall and don't have to keep this job, so I'm smiling about that too. And as I hand him his change he says very sincerely 'Sophie, good luck at school.' and drives away. Uh.... what? I spent a good ten minutes freaking out about how he knew my name before I realized that I wear a fucking name tag. *facepalm* BUT STILL.

That said, it was a pretty good day.

In other news, TORCHWOOD WTF. I don't have anything coherent to say right now. I watched it this morning before work and was so confused and flabbergasted by the way they chose to end things that I spent the first hour of work sort of in a fog of '????' But maybe I'll re-watch as some point and be able to say coherent things. Maybe.

COBRA SHOW THE DAY BEFORE SCHOOL STARTSSSSSS!!! YESSSS. AM GOING. DO NOT CARE THAT HAVE TO WORK UNTIL HOUR BEFORE SHOW. WILL FIND WAY TO TRADE. AM GOING TO SEE MY GABRIEL. WILL POSSIBLY GET OTHER THINGS SIGNED BY HIM. EVERYTHING BUT MY SKIN AND ONLY BECAUSE THERE ARE LYRICS AGAINST THAT.

*shifty eyes* Did not just flip out. Will deny if confronted.

Queer as Folk, the entire fifth season, was today upon my half hour break purchased for only $15.74. This is what qualifies my entire day as a win. My DVD player is not working. Thank god for laptops, yes/yes? Lol, as a side note, I have NO ROOMZ for QaF on my bookshelf. Torchwood season 2 barely has a home propped up against the seven Harry Potter hardcopies, and Firefly and a handful of movies are stacked half covering Angel and Dark Angel so... I don't know where QaF is gonna live. Will find a way, no worries.

I really like my twitter. I don't why I felt this deserved a separate line but it got one. I realized today that if someone were to openly rag on Twitter, I would find myself getting irrationally upset. For the record, I find this absurdly strange too.

Later. <3

comments

And while that was a very good episode: way to shoot my heart out Torchwood. You absolute bastards. I will be kind and balanced later, when I can see the keys because I'm no longer crying.

Ugh, this week sucks.

Listening to Bden's cover of Three Little Birds on repeat. If anyone could convince me that every little thing is gonna be alright, it'd be him.

comments

So, almost lost my shit yesterday at work when I randomly started humming 'Northern Downpour' before I remembered that panic was breaking up. *le sigh* I managed to not actually burst into tears but it was a damn near thing. My manager sent me home early b/c she's actually a really awesome human. Downside: no car to get home that early. Upside: BF#2 picks me up and we spend the rest of the day together with a handful of other people making triple chocolate cupcakes and browsing Victoria's Secret for sweet deals, which we found many of.

There has been much Torchwood flail in the past two days, due to the insane amount of awesome contained within Children of Earth. It is the sole source of joy in my otherwise completely wrecked fandom!heart. No spoilers right now, if I do a thinky piece on it later obviously it'll be under a cut.

I've spent the day re-watching Dexter season 3 with BF#1, which is actually really awesome. The writing on this show is probably the best of any show I'm watching, and Michael C. Hall is so good it's ridiculous. Not that I didn't know this the first time I saw the season but it becomes that much more apparent when I know what's going to happen. There are no discrepancies in his performance, like, at all; and Julie Benz has always been a favorite of mine.

SYTYCD tonight. Very excited about it! Less excited about having to work tomorrow. Hm, you win some, you lose some. Later.

comments
